“I am extremely honored to receive the Jefferson Award. I hope that this story and award show others that all people deserve to have someone treat, teach, and coach them without making excuses.”
— Coach Cliff Copass
Congratulations to our own Special Olympics Indiana – Marion County Southside Storm COACH CLIFF whose dedication and compassion for others earned his way into the record books alongside such champions as Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tamika Catchings, and Oprah Winfrey — just to name a few! On February 27th, Coach Cliff was honored as a recipient of the Jefferson Award.
The mission of the Jefferson Awards program is to celebrate the accomplishments of people who demonstrate outstanding public service within their community and serve as an inspiration for others. The award is a prestigious honor which recognizes worthy individuals who serve in a national or local capacity in one of several qualifying categories. Recipients are selected through a nomination process.
The program originated in 1972 through the hard work and dedication of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, US Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Samuel Beard.
