White House Visit

The Special Olympics Indiana – Marion County Southside Storm organization has the privilege of sharing in the accomplishments of some pretty incredible athletes – not only on the court, field, track, and in the pool; but, also on the playing field of everyday life.

The Southside Storm website was created to provide information to Southside Storm athletes and their families while sharing their stories and accomplishments with the rest of the world. The website was officially launched one year ago on November 30th.

About the same time the website was launched, one of the Southside Storm’s amazing athletes, Meghan McNeal, was making memories at the White House with First Lady Michelle Obama.

Meghan participates as an intern in Art Mix, an art program designed to enhance the lives of people with disabilities through using art as a segway into teaching and promoting life skills. The Art Mix program was honored during a ceremony at the White House and received a $10,000 check and one of 12 national awards presented annually to outstanding after-school arts and humanities programs throughout the Country.

Meghan was chosen to represent the Art Mix program during the White House Award Ceremony due to her dedication, hard work ethic, and acceptance of all people. She was accompanied by her family, the director of Art Mix, Linda Wisler, and her art teacher, Emily Compton.

WAY TO GO MEGHAN!   🙂  KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!
