Two Special Olympics Indiana – Marion County South athletes made Franklin Central High School history during this year’s Junior – Senior Prom, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Saturday, April 30th. Joseph Copass-Israels looked dapper as he picked up his beautiful princess for the evening, Rikki Ellis, and they embarked on a journey into the school’s history books as the first special needs couple ever to attend the event.
The prom’s theme was billed as Old Hollywood; but, Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers couldn’t have held a candle to Joseph and Rikki as they danced the night away. It was a beautiful night for a wonderful couple who enjoyed each other’s company, and along the way, inadvertently opened the door for future special needs couples to attend the annual event.
