Southside Storm Puts The “Fun” in Fundraiser
When it comes to fundraising, Special Olympics Indiana – Marion County South knows how to make it fun for the whole family. The fourth Annual Chili Cook-off, Halloween Party, and Silent Auction went off without a hitch on Saturday, October 17, and proved to be another successful event for the club. The stage was set, the band “No Drama” played on, and a special guest appearance and photo opportunity by members of the Pacemates added to the good spirits and flair of the fun-filled evening. Chuck E. Cheese also made a guest appearance and was eager to cheese-it-up for the camera while showing off his best smile and posing for photos.
The evening included all the typical festivities of the annual event— the silent auction, hayrides, bonfire, games, costume contest, pumpkin decorating contest, and the chili cook-off contest, accompanied by other delicious culinary goodies prepared by the organization’s dedicated leadership and volunteers. Once again, the Bowling family graciously opened their home and hosted the event, offering their warm hospitality to all, and Karen Bowling Photography provided an opportunity for complimentary family photos.
Doug Hughes won the coveted 2015 Chili Cook-off title for the best, darn pot of chili of the year and was awarded with a $50 Kroger gift card. Other individual winners of the evening included best costume winners, Tim McGinnis and Barbara Bryars, and best pumpkin decorators, Lauren Darland and Christina Whittle.
The biggest winners of the evening were ALL SOUTHSIDE STORM ATHLETES. This annual event raises money to sustain the vitality of the Special Olympics Indiana – Marion County South program, which also allows the organization to enjoy multiple opportunities to participate in competition, fellowship, and special events throughout the year.
SPECIAL OLYMPICS INDIANA – MARION COUNTY SOUTHSIDE STORM GIVES A BIG THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO MAKES THIS EVENT POSSIBLE EVERY YEAR!!
